MAMIDI ALLAM / MANGO GINGER WITH LEMON AND CHILLIES [ FOR RICE ]



Like  few of you have rightly guessed , the pic above is pickle / side dish like chips this is healthy side dish for dhal and curd rice . It is also called mavadi - allam / injimanga . It belongs to ginger family and a has the smell and taste of sweet raw mango .It has terrific combo of flavours  It was very hard to find in market .But we get very rarely .In our place we get regularly .I am not even sure to use a big word like recipe but most don't know this as I learnt this one from my mom DO  make it if you get lucky ., It is one of the most refreshing tastes' you'll find .
This mango ginger belongs to turmeric or the ginger family.
Curcuma mangga [mango ginger]is a plant of ginger family .The rhizomes are very similar to ginger but have raw mango taste .These are used in making pickles  in south India .

Ingredients =

mango ginger - 250 grms
salt - as required [ 8 tsp] 
cumic powder / jeera powder - 5 tsp
green chillies - 17
lemon - 17

Method of preparation = 

Wash thorouley  Peel the mango ginger  

Chop them into pieces 


Take a jar add salt,cumic powder,
Take 5 lemon cut into pieces and add to the salt powder and 9 - 10 lemons into juice and add to the salt jar 
Then add  1/2 inch cutted green chillies and mango ginger or mamidi allam pieces to the jar and mix well 


Adjust the salt and lemon juice according to the taste or liquid .Don't touch the bottle for three to four days after two days mix with a spoon well .
We can refrigirate this for  more durability . 
good side dish for dal rice /tomato red chilli powder pappu /and curd rice
