Methi gaati is a snack item of Gujarat and Maharastra .Preparation is also very easy .

- Maida / plain flour - 1 big glass
- kasoori methi - 2 tsp
- red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- amchur powder - 1/2 tsp
- salt
- ajwain / vaamu - 1/4 tsp
- cooking soda - a small pinch [ if necessary ]
- oil for deep frying
Method of preparation -
In a mixing bowl , sieve maida flour and ajwain , kasoori methi and mix well to make sure there are no lumps.
Add salt , red chilli powder keand into a soft dough adding as much water as is required.[ like chepathi dough ]
Mean while , heat oil in a kadai/ wok on medium heat .
Take the dough in a big ball and roll into a pencil size and cut into inch size
Carefully drop into hot oil and fry on medium heat and fry into golden color .
Remove on to paper towel with a perforated ladle once the fried pencil shapes are cooled .
Continue with the rest of the dough in the same form .
Sprinkle amchur powder on the gatiyas and mix well and when they are cooled store in air tight box .
