SORRAKAYA NUGUPAPPU KURA

Bottle gourd is a vegetable which most people doesn't like but there are so many curries which can be made of this which are easy and tasty , Today we learn one curry for roti  .

Ingredients - 

  • bottle gourd - 1 [ medium ]
  • green chillies - 4- 5
  • sesame seeds / thil seeds - 7 tsp
  • salt 
  • tamarind powder 
Talimpu - 
  • cumin seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • urad dal - 1/3 tsp 
  • mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • broken red chilli - 1
  • curry leaves - 6 
  • asafotida a small pinch 
  • oil - 2 tsp
Method of preparation - 
  • Remove stems wash and slice green chillies .
  • Peel, remove ends and chop bottle gourd into small pieces .
  • Fry sesame seeds in a shallow pan for 5 mints or until it cracks and grind into fine powder after it cools to room temperature .
  • Heat oil in a shallow pan , add all talimpu ingredients in order when urad dal turns golden color  
  • Add chopped chillis and mix well for a min....................
  • Add chopped bottle gourd and saute well in medium heat and close with a lid  
  • Add  tamarind powder and mix well
  • Cook bottle gourd until half cook  [ don't add any water because it only have more water,If bottle gourd does n't release water add some 1/2 glass water while cooking ] when bottle gourd is half cooked remove lid until water evaporate .
  • When the bottle gourd is cooked add sesame powder and salt and saute well and keep on medium flame for few mint's and remove from heat .
  • Serve this curry with roti ,chepathi .
