DOSAKAY A PACHHADI [ FOR RICE ]

Dosakaya / yellow cucumber /lemon cuke / naati bhudamkaya pachhadi it is an old and traditional  item which  my inlaw  tought me as she learnt from her inlaw  very easy and tasty in rice .

Ingredients - 

  • lemon cucumber / budamkaya - 1 
  • green chillies - 6 [according to spice] 
  • onions - 2 medium 
  • peanuts /ground nuts - 5 tsp
  • salt - as per taste 
  • cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp 
  • tamarind - 1 inch size ball 
  • turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp 
  • oil - 3 tsp 
Method of preparation - 

  • Remove stems , wash and chop green chillies .
  • Peel and chop onions in big size [round big size]
  • Heat  pan and fry peanuts till golden color and peel the upper layer of the peanut
  • Peel yellow cucumber and taste it with seeds that it is not bitter [if it is bitter don't use it] chop the cucumber into big chunks .
Heat oil in a deep vessel add cumin seeds ,green chillies,onion  and fry them into golden color and then add chopped cucumber and fry for few seconds and pour half glass of water and tamarind ,turmeric and cook covered with  lid on medium flame .


When cucumber  is 3/4 cooked  then high the flame if water is more and let all the water eveporate .

Remove from heat  and cool to the room temparature .

Grind fried and  peeled  groundnuts into a fine powder using blender by adding salt to it .


Saparate green chillies and tamarind  from boiled cucumber and add to the ground nut paste and grind them 

Finally add boiled cucumber and onions to the groundnuts and chilli paste and coarsely grind every thing using the same blender [ coarsely grind cucumber like that while eating we have to get pieces of cucumber]
