DOUBLE - KA - MEETA [ BREAD HULWA ]

This is the sweet which is very famous in our native place , and this sweet is prepared by muslims more with more sweet as it's name double - ka - meeta ,as bread is sweet and sugar is sweet .but we prepare with my house /kitchen style  with medium sugar and ghee as deep/ or partial  fry ,but we fry on flat pan .With ghee only but comparetively less ghee .

Ingredients -
  • sweet bread - 1 packet
  • milk - 3/4 liter / 1 liter
  • sugar - 1/2 cup / 3/4 cup
  • ghee - for frying - 10 - 14 tsp
  • ghee - for frying dry nuts - cashew - 10
  • ilayichi /cardomom - 2 pops
  • dry nuts - cashew - 10 / hand ful
Method of preparation -

Trim the edges of bread [optional] and leave them for an hour or more for losing it's soft ness [ don't use fresh bread ., means not expiry but not fresh and soft ]

In a pan add ghee and fry  cashewnuts till golden and remove on to a plate .

In the same pan  fry bread slices by adding ghee to the both sides of the bread , on slow flame until golden color ,but not burn them .

In another bowl mix water and sugar and make syrup [ suger should dissolve in water after that we have to keep on flame for five more mint's to make little more thick ], add cardomom powder and mix well .

Remove the syrup from the flame and add fried bread slices to the milk one by one and when the bread is soaked well in the milk add sugar syrup and set on flame for few more minutes and mix well through edges .[so that the halwa does't  become fine paste ]

Finally garnish with fried cashewnuts and serve .

NOTE : -  In the same way if you want or interested  you can deep fry bread in ghee  into golden brown color instead of frying on a flat pan with spoon ful of ghee on both sides on low flame .
