MATTIKAYA TALIMPU / CLUSTER BEANS CURRY


Mattikaya /  cluster beans is the very common vegetable loved by ANDHRA people especially my place. This is very healthy too .Mattikaya kura is very healthy dish and easy dish and also This type of dish  which I am telling is very old style which my granny also must have learnt by her ..... .So let's  learn this recipe  .




Ingredients - 

  • Mattikayalu  - 1/2 kg 
  • Onion - 1 or 2 
  • Coconut grated - 1 cup
  • Green chillies - 5 - 4
  • Cilantro few
  • Salt to taste 
  • Oil - 1- 2 tsp 
Talimpu - 
  •  Mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 9 
Method of preparation - 

  • Remove the ends and [while removing ends strings will come remove them] then cut cluster beans with  knife in inch size . 
  • Remove stems ,wash and finely chop green chillies .
  • Peel and wash and chop onions .
  • coarsely ground green chillies,cilantro,salt 
  • Pressure cook the mattikayalu  by adding pinch of salt and turmeric .
  • When the pressure is gone  drain the water and keep aside .
  • Heat oil  in a pan , add  all talimpu ingredients and once starts splutter , add chopped onions and fry on medium flame until light golden 
  • Then add  cooked mattikayalu  and turmeric and fry on medium and low flame for 5 -8  mint's or until any left over water will leave and ................
  • Then add grounded chilli paste and  mix well  for more 5 mint's and remove from heat .
  • Finally add grated coconut and  stir well  and serve with hot hot chepathi or steamed rice.
