Raw banana is very popular vegetable in South India and there are different types of verities made with this banana.
Raw bananas / plantains belong to the banana family but tend to be firmer and cannot be eaten raw.They require cooking and are used when green or under ripe.and are used in different ways like steamed ,fried etc., They are referred to as potatoes of caribbean since they resemble in flavor .

- Raw green plantains ,peel ,slice each plantain lengthwise and slice {place in water} - 2
- Large onion - 1
- Ginger garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder - big pinch
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
- Menthi powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cinnamon powder - a pinch
- Fresh grated coconut - 2 tsp
- Oil - 11/2 tsp
- Salt as per taste
- Fresh cilantro springs
Talimpu =
- cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- green chillis - 2 chopped
- curry leaves - 8 - 10
Method of preparation =
- Mix chilli powder , methi powder [ fry methi in a pan and powder it finely ] ,coriender powder , cumin powder ,salt , garlic ginger paste and grated coconut to the sliced raw plantain . Sprinkle 4-5 tsp of water if ..... and magnate it for 10 - 15 mint's .
- Mean time heat oil in a cooking vessel ..add cumin seeds and let them splutter . Add curry leaves and green chillis and saute for a mint'
- Add chopped onions and saute till golden and then add magnated raw banana pieces and stir fry for 5 mint's with out lid on medium heat . Countiusley stir fry to ensure they don't burn or stick to the pan .
- Cook with lid and pour water on lid and cook on low flame for 15 - 10 mint's or till raw bananas are well roasted and turn soft .Remove lid and cook on medium heat stirring constantly for 2- 3 mint's .
- Finally add cilantro springs and mix well and remove from heat and serve hot with dhal or sambar with steamed rice .
