FRIED MOMS / VEGETABLE BAGS [ snack ]


Vegetable bags are made with any type of vegetables filled inside and deep fried .It an Tibetin / chinese  item  which we can get in restarents  but house made are house made right so we will do this snack . It is very suitable for parties get togethers ,...........

Filling  ingredients =
  • Carrot - 2 
  • fresh baby beans / beans - 6
  • cauliflower - 1/2 cup
  • capsicum / bell pepper - 1/2 
  • Cabbage - 1 cup
  • chilli sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • tomato sauce - 1/2 tsp 
  • salt - little 
  • white pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • soya sauce - 6 drops
  • ajinomoto /china salt - pinch [ optional ]
  • garlic - 3 pods

Method of preparation  of filling =

Wash and peel and finely chop carrot .
Wash and remove the ends and finely chop beans .
Wash and finely chop cabbage .
Wash and grate cauliflower / finely chop .
Wash  and finely chop capsicum .
Peel garlic pods and finely chop .

In a mixing bowl add all finely chopped vegetables , tomato sauce , chilli sauce , soya sauce , chopped garlic 
white pepper , salt , aginomoto [ optional ] and mix well and rest it for a while until the dough is ready .




For preparation of dough = 

Maida / plain flour - 1 cup 
salt - pinch 
oil - 1/4 tsp 

In a mixing bowl mix together maida , salt , oil into soft dough adding cold water a little bit ,keep covered the dough for some time and divide the dough into equal parts [the size of the portion of the dough of [poori] should be lemon size] .

Preparation of  vegetable bags = 

Divide the dough into  8 - 10 portions .
Take each portion of the dough and roll portion into 4 - 5 inch diameter poori .

Put one round of dough in your left hand , and add a table spoonful of filling in the center of the dough 

Fold your circle of dough in half , covering over the filling .
Pinch the two edges of the half circles so that there is no open edges in your half circle , and the filling is completely  enclosed in the dough . this is the basic half - moon shape . You can experiment folds and pinches to seal the mom to make it more decorative .
Tie spring onion as a knot 
Mean while keep oil for deep frying and if all the moms are ready and oil is hot sim the flame and fry them to golden color and tranfer to kitchen towel / tissue so to absorb extra oil .

Serve hot with tomato sauce or chilli sauce .
