BEANS TALIMPU - FOR RICE AND ROTI

Curries / fries means not deep fries , Usually  I don't prefer deep fries once in a while I prepare them ,as my hubi  loves ..........  I prefer to give  them less oil fries and curries for  rice and again for rotis  which  are  good  for health , so  today  I prepared  "Fresh beans" .

As food  blogger I love  to search  new  recipes like that  once I gone  through  a  blog  with less spice and low oil , and I prepared  this  and I got nice  marks for  this  recipe so I am sharing this Karnataka  style .

Ingredients -

  • Fresh beans - 250 grms
  • Fresh  coconut - 6 tsp
  • Red chillies - 4
  • Jaggery - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric - a pinch
Talimpu -
  • Cumin seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/3 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 string
Method  of  preparation -
  • Remove  the ends and wash them  under  water  , and  cut  into 1/2 inch  size .
  • Boil  water  in  any  vessel  as  we  have  to  cook  chopped  beans  on  steam {cooking  like  this  will taste  yummy}
  • As  water  is  boiling  we  place  strainer  on  the  top  of  the  vessel  like  this  and  add a pinch  of  salt  and  mix  well to  the  beans and  place  on  the  strainer  and  close  the  lid  , let  it  cook  for 5 - 9  mint's {don't  over  cook  it won't taste nice}
I prefer like  this  cooking as it takes less oil and also the color and taste will retain and as if we cook like this the proteins & vitamins in  the vegetables will retain with the vegetable only .
  • Now  let   us  prepare  curry -

Heat  the  pan  and  place  tsp  of oil

when  hot  add  all talimpu  ingredients ,

when they are started cracking add cooked

beans and jaggery  and salt as per.... and

turmeric powder ........

and saute well for  five mint's on low  and  medium  flame .

Cover the lid and cook for 5 mint's ..........

Mean while ground red chillies  and  fresh

coconut into a fine  paste .

After five mint's remove the lid and add

grounded coconut paste and  mix  well and

close the  lid  for more 5 mint's and remove

from heat .
