SANKE GOURD TALIMPU WITH COCONUT

Snake gourd  / podalangi / pollakaya in telugu is a tropical wine with a strikingly long fruit . This vegetable has a distinct mild flavour and can make several dishes like chutney ,perugu pachadi etc., This one one of very common cusine in south Indian houses from granny's time so let's learn .................

Ingredients - 
  • Snake gourd - 3 -4 [ if they are small ] or 1 long one fresh one
  • Coconut grated - 1 cup
  • Green chillies - 5 - 4
  • Cilantro few
  • Salt to taste 
  • Oil - 1- 2 tsp 
    Talimpu - 

    •  Mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
    • Cumin seeds - 1/3 tsp
    • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
    • Chana dal - 1/2 tsp
    • Curry leaves - 9 


    Method of preparation - 

    • Wash and cut the snake gourd and remove seeds chop the snake gourd into fine half circles thin slices.... 
    • Remove stems ,wash and finely chop green chillies .
    • coarsely ground green chillies,cilantro,salt 
    • In the preheated pan , add oil and all talimpu ingredients and once starts splutter , add chopped snake gourd  and fry on medium flame until light golden  color or  until soft 
    • Then add grounded chilli paste and fry on low flame for more 5 mint's 
    • Finally add grated coconut and  stir well  and serve with hot hot steamed rice or roti
